Working at the Woodland, CA Research Station will offer the opportunity to obtain diverse experiences related to field data collection and analysis, including precision phenotyping and sensing activities. Exposure to trait development, crop protection and plant breeding research activities are within the scope. 40hrs/week, seasonal role (projected to be 4 months, could extend beyond) Responsibilities: Support the central team with multi crop seed filling, seed preparation sampling and data collection preparation activities and data collection. Operate and install devices and support specialized remote and proximal sensing equipment. Supervise and train others in these technologies. Follow specific protocols to collect, analyze and distribute large volumes of data. Supervise part-time employee crews to complete field activities according to protocols. Availability for overtime during peak seasons of planting, flowering and harvest. Contribute to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment Requirements: Bachelor's or associate degree in agriculture or scientific related field (agriculture preferred) plus 2-4 years industry related experience. Computer skills (Excel, Access, and electronic data collection). Effective verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills are necessary. The candidate should be able to work independently or with a team and have the ability to work well with diverse groups of people. Self-motivated and ability to initiate projects, improvements, decisions, and problem solving. Quick learner and able to ask relevant questions. Detail-oriented, strong time management and organizational skills. Safety Oriented: Commitment to excellent safety and risk management practices; Will be required to do physical lifting and work outdoors and in varying conditions and ergonomic environments.
