OPPORTUNITY
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist to join our Extrahepatic therapeutic genome editing team at Mammoth Biosciences. The successful candidate will conduct translational gene editing experiments and make significant contributions to multiple projects within Mammoth's CNS therapeutics pipeline. Specifically, the candidate will work closely with the hiring manager and Extrahepatic therapeutics team to design/develop, perform and execute studies on in vitro and in vivo models to support the development of proprietary Mammoth genome-editing systems for CNS disease therapeutic strategies. The position requires adaptability, excellent technical and analytical skills, strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently in a fast-paced team-oriented and dynamic environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execution of molecular biology, cloning, cell culture, genome editing, transfection, viral transduction and a broad range of functional assays to support screening and optimization of Mammoth genome editing systems
  • Perform analysis of genome editing and functional outcomes in cellular or animal models of CNS disease
  • Accurately and timely record, document, analyze and communicate laboratory data to senior staff and team members
  • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner, and adheres to site environmental health and safety (EHS) requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in molecular and cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years (4 years for Associate Scientist) of relevant academic or industry laboratory research experience
  • Knowledge of genome editing systems
  • Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, transfections, molecular cloning, PCR, genomic DNA and mRNA purification, cDNA library prep, qPCR, ELISA, western blot

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in neuroscience, or a related field
  • Prior industry work experience
  • Proficiency in viral transductions, ddPCR, NGS sample prep / analysis, flow cytometry
  • Experience working with genome editing systems
  • Experience working with AAV or LNP delivery systems
  • Experience with neuronal or patient-derived primary cell lines (SH-SY5Y, neural progenitor cells, neural stem cells, iPSC-derived neurons)
  • Knowledge or experience working with automated liquid-handler systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant data analysis software (Flowjo, GraphPad Prism, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Highly motivated with a strong work ethic. Ability to work efficiently and productively in a fast-paced highly collaborative team environment

Base Salary Range: $108,000 - $127,349

The listed base salary range is for Mammoth employees in the Bay Area. Actual base salary will be determined by geographic work location, relevant professional experience, applicable skills, and internal equity. The base salary range for those working remotely outside of the San Francisco Bay Area may differ and will be determined by industry market data for the role and specific region.
