The Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism has an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Research Associate 1 to work on the UHealth Campus. The Research Associate 1 supports research activities for the assigned division by conducting laboratory experiments on assigned research projects. Moreover, the incumbent operates with the goal of advancing his/her expertise through continued education, training, and research. The Research Associate I will work under the supervision of Dr. Rene Barro, with his investigations that focus on molecular mechanisms by which KV channelopathies cause disorders in excitable cells. Operates laboratory equipment; contributes to laboratory maintenance. Uses single-molecule fluorescence approaches, patch clamp, and voltage clamp techniques. Perform a variety of complex technical duties involved in conducting physical, chemical, biological and other research laboratory tests, experiments and determinations to obtain data for research purposes. Compile, analyze, document, and draw tentative conclusions from experimental results. Confer with principal investigator to review work assignments and develop plans for research experiments. Publish research outcomes in appropriate journals of international standing and to publish and disseminate the result of research in other reputable outlets. Maintains an overview of relevant research findings. Prepares reports of research results for public presentation through seminars and conferences. Collects and analyzes data as requested. Undertakes literature searches for the research project. Interprets and present the findings of the literature searches, advising the research teams appropriately regarding potential projects. Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice and guidance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in relevant field No prior experience required Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
