Experience in a facility with general analytical and preparative laboratory methods. Ability to perform molecular techniques such as; western blotting analysis, PCR/qPCR, handling animal work, and be able to productively manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to do genotyping/sequencing for mouse colony development and cell culture work and maintenance. Capable with current Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Desired Qualifications Recent experience in basic research Position Purpose This position provides specialized scientific expertise and capacity in support of the OU research and teaching missions. In combination with a variety of capital-intensive equipment, dedicated laboratory space, and expert faculty supervision, the Research Assistant Tech contributes to a nationally competitive and externally funded independent research program that investigates the role of Homocysteine in aging eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy (DR) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The Research Assistant Tech contributes to the OU teaching mission by mentoring and training students pursuing independent research projects in the lab.
