Position Overview:
The Regulatory and Test Specialist will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing regulatory approvals for new and existing products to ensure they meet all required codes and standards. This individual will contribute to assembling, reworking, testing, and documenting work as needed to support product and system development for regulatory submittal. The role is part of a global team focused on delivering high quality products and services to the global market.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Maintain and execute regulatory approvals for fire and life safety products. This includes submitting request to various regulatory bodies and managing projects to ensure we maintain required certifications.

• Interface with development engineers, program management and operations to ensure regulatory certifications meet required specifications. This includes helping develop Technical Publications to ensure accuracy of install instructions, User Manuals, Guides and Technical Bulletins.

• Work with development engineers to plan, develop and maintain test infrastructure required for product testing.

• Develop processes and procedures as well as interpret and execute policies, projects and programs as needed.

• Work with Regulatory Bodies such as UL, ULC, FM and others to execute testing and ensure compliance of our products with local, national, and international codes/standards.

• Use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals.

Basic Qualifications:

• AAS degree in Engineering or equivalent with 5 or more years of experience or 10 years of applicable experience.

• Knowledge of measuring and recording electrical properties, voltage, current, resistance, etc.

• Knowledge of electronic designs utilizing various types of parts and techniques used to assemble, rework, and test a variety of products

• Able to read schematics and engineering documentations with a high degree of technical understanding

• Knowledge of product development lifecycle concepts.

• Exposure to defect tracking and version control tools.

• Experience with Microsoft Windows/Office, SAP and other software platforms.

• Previous experience in effectively presenting information in small groups and making administrative decisions related to carrying-out basic duties of the job as well as decisions that affect other positions or individuals.

• Proven results in interpreting a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form while dealing with abstract and concrete variables.

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with submitting and maintaining regulatory certifications and approvals.

• Experience with product testing and troubleshooting of electronics.

• Domain expertise in the fire and life safety industry

• Knowledge of as well as participation in code and standards development

Position Criteria:

• Willing to travel up to 10% of the time.

• Strong communication skills and ability to articulate concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Able to work individually and as part of a global team
