Scope 1.Supervises, leads, role models and coordinates the activities of personnel engaged inproviding excellent patient focused care supporting physician practices through the provision of integrated, effective innovative nursing practices related medical services. Supervises daily staffing and productivity in assigned area/department. Assures appropriate staff assignments and schedules and seeks resources as needed. 2. Serves as role model, mentor, and supervisor of staff. 3. Acts as a leadership and clinical resource for assigned area/department. Supports associates in resolving patient and unit/department issues, concerns, and complaints. Escalates issues as needed/ as warranted. 4. Participates in a leadership role in performance improvement activities, new initiatives, and other unit functions. Participates in interviewing and selection of assigned personnel. 5. Proactively seeks opportunities to identify and implement methods to improve financial outcomes, patient care and outcomes, and associate and physician engagement. 6. Performs the responsibilities of a RN, as needed 7. Demonstrates and promotes exemplary service orientation to patients, members, providers, staff. 8. Oversees training of personnel and ensures orientation to policies, procedures expectations. Ensures that the training activities incorporate all applicable policies, local, state federal laws regulations, accreditation standards. 9. Participates with managing associate performance, including motivating, coaching and counseling on immediate performance issues, recommending appropriate action, disciplining, and advising leadership on terminations. Supports department leadership in issue/conflict resolution, developing performance improvement plans, and administering the discipline process. 10. Assesses develops recommendations for new or revised general or nursing policies, procedures, and guidelines. 11. Partners w/ the physician leaders in creating a culture of commitment to patient focused service, excellent support of physician practices, innovation, compliance, ethics and integrity. Assists with managing staff, projects, budgets, and other related leadership activities. 12. Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards. 13. Performs other duties as assigned. 14. May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need. 15. May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift. Minimum Qualifications Required Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required Associates or Diploma prepared nurses must complete a Bachelor of Arts or Science in Nursing within four years of hire Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required A Registered Nurse with an AS DN degree must complete a BSN degree within four (4) years from the Registered Nurses date of hire unless the Registered Nurse has a minimum of fifteen(15) years of proven continuous Registered Nurse experience in an acute care setting Failure to obtain a BSN degree within that time frame may result in suspension or termination of employment Any Registered Nurse who takes legally protected leave during the Four (4) year completion period may have the period extended by a comparable amount of time Registered Nurses employed by St Vincent, Good Samaritan, St Joseph, or Lutheran Medical Centers as of September 1, 2014 with only an AS DN will be exempt from this requirement Registered Nurses employed by Holy Rosary, Platte Valley, St Marys, Home Health, and TSFP as of December 31, 2017 with only an AS DN will be exempt from this requirement Three years RN nursing experience required Preferred Bachelor's degree of Nursing is preferred Bachelor's degree of Nursing is preferred Certification as appropriate for unit or service is preferred To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily. Physical Requirements: Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
