Job Description Position Summary The Lead Registered Nurse is responsible for assisting the physician and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and physician access. Provides clinical direction to staff members to ensure that patients receive compassionate, effective, and efficient high-quality clinical care. The Lead Registered Nurse functions as the liaison between patients, staff, physicians, and leadership and is responsible for ensuring adherence to evidence-based clinical decision-making. In the Lead Registered Nurse role, collaborative work with patients, families, and/or other healthcare professionals is required to identify goals and strategies for coordinating care across settings. Areas of Expertise & Essential Job Functions Support & Coordination of Care Maintains efficient patient flow Appropriately demonstrates telephone triage protocols and document in EHR Schedules appointments appropriately and accurately according to department guidelines Employs appropriate and timely use of Tasking in EHR Monitors clinical inboxes in EHR Appropriately enters orders as delegate Effectively communicates problems, concerns or issues to the Office Supervisor/Manager appropriately and promptly Facilitates transition of care to UCC/Hospital Quality Assurance Assures all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting care Maintain a working knowledge of Emergency Response system Appropriately adheres to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposal of medical waste Checks and maintains point of care testing logs, medication refrigerator logs, and emergency equipment in accordance with policy, and is responsible for problem resolution Clinical Practice Assist with proper preparation for patient visits and prepares pertinent information needed for patient visits Provides patient education Delivers direct patient care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with SMG policy Collects lab specimens according to departmental guidelines. Accurately labels specimens. Obtains vital signs: BP, temp, pulse, height & weight accurately and completely as required. Documents appropriately in EHR Administers injections according to appropriate protocol. Documents injections accurately in EHR Reviews and updates medication list in EHR. Demonstrates understanding of prescription control and prescription refill procedures. Accurately and completely documents known allergies in EHR Provides referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR Assist providers with procedures as needed Interdisciplinary Collaboration Assist the physician and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and physician access Prioritizes patient care by implementing physician orders and nursing procedures Function as the liaison between patients, staff, physicians, and leadership Demonstrates flexibility with various work schedules Leads/participates in daily clinical huddles Other job duties as required Additional Lead Position Responsibilities Coordinates with Supervisory staff to ensure schedules are entered appropriately in scheduling program. Work collaboratively with Office Supervisor/Clinical Coordinator to provide adequate staff coverage Responsible for oversight of medical and office supplies and ordering of supplies, including supplies for in office procedures Engages with leadership staff to assess clinical skills and competency Escalates concerns and issues timely and appropriately to leadership Responsible for addressing and resolving patient complaints/issues. Communicate issues and resolution to leadership. Bring concerns expressed by providers to Office Supervisor/Clinical Practice Manager Notify leadership of any potential health and safety hazards in the office and make corrective actions Assist with initiating and follow through on Facilities/IT work orders related to the office setting Functions as a trainer for onboarding of nurses and coordinates the onboarding of clinical staff Responsible for completing staff's clinical competency checklist Ensure appropriate workflow is being followed and implemented Serves as a liaison for clinical decision making Collaborate with providers and non-clinical leadership to identify office efficiencies and optimum patient care Physical Job Requirements Pushing and pulling, taking frequency and weight into consideration Physical strength to lift heavy objects, carts, or items, taking frequency and weight into consideration Physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account Physical agility, which includes the ability to maneuver body while in place. Bachelor's degree preferred New Jersey State Nursing License and BLS certification required 0 - 1-year experience. 2-4 years' experience preferred Previous leadership experience preferred Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations and with a high degree of accuracy Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking and priority setting skills Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred Experience with Patient care equipment preferred Experience with EHR, Practice Management System and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred Travel Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed.
