New Graduates New registered nurse (RN) graduates' benefit from a comprehensive, personalized support system. All RNs in their first nursing role are invited to participate in a Nurse Residency Program alongside nursing orientation. The program provides socialization and support, enhances clinical judgment, and promotes professional development. IU Health Jay is a rural, critical access hospital with an 11- bed Emergency Department. Our ED nurses provide care for infant, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. In 2023, we opened a new space that now houses our SANE program. We have exceeded our patient satisfaction goals in 2023. We are continuing to grow and are adding advance practice provider to our staffing along with an additional nurse. Developing as a nurse is important to us and we had multiple team members present podium and poster presentations at national conferences. Indiana University Health recently became a Pathway to Excellence Designed Hospital. Unit Culture: Admitting and assessing patients Administering medications and treatments Monitoring vital signs and symptoms Operating and tracking medical equipment Running and ordering tests Coordinating care with Physicians and Specialists Charting patient progress Qualifications Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
