SUMMARY: The Surgery Nurse Manager is responsible for the development, supervision and coordination of all surgical services. Ensures the effective communication of up-to-date information within the department and across departments to encourage teamwork and safe patient transitions and handoffs. Provides supervision of personnel and oversight of daily operations of surgery. Hold team members accountable for consistent delivery of compassionate and exceptional patient care and service excellence through performance, quality and behavior standards and expectations. BAXTER HEALTH COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Understands and adheres to Baxter Health standards as they appear in Dynamic Health and Healthstream Policy Manager. Required to work with the RN, VP Chief Nursing Officer regularly to carryout, initiate and/or implement best practices for the Surgery Department. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. License: Current Arkansas RN or Compact State license in good standing Experience: Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience required in the operating room setting. Previous charge nurse and/or leadership experience required. Preferred Education: Master of Science in Nursing Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS certification required. CNOR preferred Other: Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating servant leadership characteristics. Strong service excellence focus and the ability to effectively influence internal and external customers. Ability to interact with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers, as well as care partners at all levels of the organization. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality with regard to employment data, HIPAA, and departmental operations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following: Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to solve problems and make decisions. Ability to stand and walk, bend, squat, and twist up to or exceeding 8 to12 hours during shift(s). Occasionally requires lifting of 50 pounds or more of equipment. Able to push in excess of 150 pound wheelchair with patient and equipment. Occasionally lifts patients with assist 125 pounds or more. Must have a keen sense of hearing and visual acuity to respond to critical changing patient situations from actual observations and/or equipment alarms. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure. Work Environment Hospital environment, operating room, central sterile, pre-op, PACU, and office-type settings. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a position in a hospital setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating Senior Administrative call.
