The Registered Nurse (RN) is part of the health care team to provide comprehensive health care for patients and work with the Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), Medical Assistants (MAs). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works closely with clinic providers to provide comprehensive health care to patients and promote the smooth operation of the clinic team. Determines staffing ratios for the teams are adequate and coordinate with Nursing Manager/COM/ Medical Director for overall coverage to ensure workflow is smooth. Manages vaccine and floor medication inventory, ordering and tracking. Be able to provide patient care when short staffed such as bot not limited to: taking vitals Implementation of clinic and regulatory protocols. These include protocols as determined by the Medical Quality Assurance Committee (MQAC), clinical treatment protocols, and protocols as determined by the Medical Director and NEMS Administration. Coordinates EWC, CPSP, CHDP/VFC and DPH vaccine programs. Prepares and participates in health plan and program audits. Be able to provide patient care when short staffed such as but not limited to; taking vital signs, performing EKG, immunizations, TB skin tests, and insertion of urinary catheters, medication injections, collects and prepares specimens as necessary. Responsible for starting IVs and administers medications including intravenous infusions as ordered. Knows the scope of practice for his/her own profession and that of the Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Medical Assistants (MAs) and assigns tasks accordingly. Assists with difficult patients. Responsible for checking the floor medications, emergency box and oxygen supplies and maintains a monthly checklist. Provides care management for patients who require continual care including high risk patients. Makes appropriate referrals to other departments within the agency as well as to outside agencies. Responsible for performing telephone and drop-in triage. Responsible for handling/assisting emergency response i.e. Code Blue etc. Educates patients about health problems, treatment regime, self-injections of insulin, and medical procedures Implements medication plans as ordered by providers. Ensures that there is proper maintenance of equipment such as autoclave, refrigerator, and electrocardiogram. Sees that the exam rooms are prepared and fully stocked. Serve as a backup to help to assist and prepare for clinic audits Performs coverage for the RN team leads as needed. Performs certain office procedures as outlined in the medical clinic and nursing manual. Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited school of Registered Nursing Program. Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred. Current Unrestricted Nevada Registered Nurse License. Recent experience in a clinic or outpatient setting desirable. Provide nursing care to patients as described in the Nursing Practice Act. Current documentation of Basic Life Support is required. LANGUAGE: Must be able to fluently speak, read and write English. Fluent in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) required. Fluency in other languages are an asset.
