Introduction

The Registered Nurse assists with IV contrast coverage and Coronary Cardiac CT Angio scans (CCTA). The responsibilities of the Registered Nurse include providing excellent patient care pre and post procedure independently with minimal supervision.

Job Objectives

  • Assist in maintaining and operating CCTA monitoring equipment and post IV contrast reaction
  • Utilize sterile techniques starting IVs for various procedures performed at the Kissimmee Office
  • Prepare and monitor patient during and after CCTA procedure and/or after contrast reaction
  • Utilize EKG and rhythm recognition skills
  • Administer appropriate medication and dosage for IV contrast reaction per the RIS signs and symptoms algorithm for contrast reactions
  • Maintain a clean environment in the CT coronary procedure room
  • Manage code cart for supplies, drugs and defibrillator for charge
  • Perform appropriate quality control daily, weekly and monthly
  • Proper disposal of biohazard and radioactive waste as regulated by OSHA and the Florida State Office of Radiation Control
  • Meet continuing education requirements to maintain the license as required by State law
  • Other related work as necessary

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree in nursing required, a Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred
  • 3 - 5 years of ER or OR experience is required
  • Experience in radiology procedures is preferred

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and patients and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent patient care and customer service
  • Current ACLS certification is required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
  • Normal hand eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to distinguish letters and symbols
  • Ability to respond quickly to sounds
  • Clarity of vision at close distances (20 inches or less) and far distances (20ft or more)
