The RN in this role will be in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic and Infusion Center at Riley Children's Hospital. Nursing skills gained on this unit: Critical thinking in a fast-paced environment Ambulatory experience Infusion experience Nursing skills such as Central Line access and maintenance care, PIVs, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood product, and medication administration Training on hypersensitivity reaction Patient advocacy Flexibility and Adaptability Unit Successes/Designations: APHON chemotherapy/biotherapy certified nurses Team of highly dedicated nurses and medical assistants Unit Culture Highlights: The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency Work directly with oncology trained pharmacists on site infusion area Encourage nurse led governance councils Multiple coaches available for training Qualifications Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy experience with certification (required within 6 months) Hem/Onc experience or Ambulatory/Infusion experience preferred Pediatric experience preferred Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements Student loan forgiveness - IU Health qualifies under the public service loan forgiveness program. Qualifications Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Two years experience in an ambulatory setting preferred. Knowledge of procedures for performing the functions appropriate to the specific clinical area and familiarity with designated pieces of equipment and supplies. Requires ability to coordinate a number of functions for a group of patients in an effective timely manner. Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse. Why Join IU Health?
