Job Description ECU Health About ECU Health Medical Center ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people. Position Summary 64 bed unit providing Cardiac intermediate level care and general level that supports for the Cardiac Medicine population. Patients in this setting may require frequent assessments and collaborative evaluations to manage intermediate care status and general status. Continuity of care is facilitated in this unit through transition for optimization of clinical outcomes. CIU offers a wonderful opportunity to build a foundation in nursing. The population will include but is not limited to: Myocardial Infarction (S/P STEMI, NSTEMI) S/P Cardiac Arrest Coronary Artery Disease Management (Pre/post Cardiac Cath with/without intervention, pre Cardiac Surgery Cardiac Arrhythmia Management (Medication and Device) Acute Heart Failure Management (Medication and Device) High Risk Cardiac OB Responsibilities Assures healing without harm through use of safety habits and error prevention tools, periodic rounding, and engagement in daily safety huddle Obtains and interprets initial and ongoing systematic patient/family assessment data, incorporating information from other appropriate sources. Uses patient/family assessment data to formulate relevant nursing plan of care. Collaborates with patient/family/significant others(s) and interdisciplinary team members to mutually formulate realistic and measurable outcomes based on clinical presentation and plan of care. Minimum Requirements Diploma in Nursing, Associates in Nursing or higher Bachelors Degree is preferred. Current NC RN license or licensure to practice in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state Health Care Provider is required. Basic Life Support is required.
