POSITION SUMMARY Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services within the scope of the RN license, to patients admitted to Riverwood Healthcare Center. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Successful completion of a Registered Nursing Program leading to a Registered Nursing License from the Minnesota State Board of Nursing. License/Certificates Current RN License or work permit from the Minnesota State Board of Nursing. certification in BLS or ability to obtain during orientation. completion card or ability to obtain ACLS. ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES Uses sound judgment in:, planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating patient care. direct patient care such as ADL, transfers, ambulation, physical assessment, etc. Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities in developing and implementing an individualized nursing plan of care based on: knowledge of growth and development ability to collect and interpret age specific data and responses to treatment ability to communicate effectively with patients ability to involve family or significant others in decision making related to the plan of care ability to recognize and plan for patient needs related to cultural diversity ability to collaborate with primary care provider, and health care team Develops and implements an individualized patient teaching plan based on prescribed treatment and hospital policy. to customize teaching plan to meet patients preferred method of learning and level of comprehension. Demonstrates proficient decision-making skills in the process of organizing and prioritizing nursing care for a group of hospitalized clients. Safely implements nursing care including delegated medical functions Demonstrates safe administration of medication. Assesses and monitors patient pain level and response to treatment. Able to provide IV therapy, including the administration of blood and blood products. Able to mix and administer IV drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, etc. Able to use PCA and epidural pumps. Able to respond to emergency situations. Actively participates in quality improvement activities. Demonstrates knowledge of Riverwood Healthcare procedures and policies, interprets these to patients, families, and staff. Functions within established policy and procedure. Accurately documents patient care information, in both electronic and paper format as appropriate. Accurately reports relevant information such as abnormal labs or changes in patient condition, to providers and others who need to know. Completes admission, transfer, and discharge documentation. Participates in discharge planning and provides patient teaching in preparation for discharge. Works effectively with others: patients (individuals, families and/or significant others), professional staff, supportive personnel, and members of other services to resolve treatment issues. In addition to the above duties, the RN will demonstrate specialized competencies to work in CCU/ICU, OB, Chemotherapy, and ER. Why Choose Riverwood Healthcare Center?
