Job Title Registered Nurse I Agency Tarleton State University Department Student Health Services Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Stephenville, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Student Health Services at Tarleton State University invites applications and/or nominations for Registered Nurse. The Registered Nurse I, under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Director of Student Health Services, provides direct patient care, patient evaluations, supervised documentation within the EMR, and treatment in accordance with Professional Nursing Standards. Primary responsibility will be attending to the job needs of the CMO with direct patient care when needed. Will accompany and assist the CMO with patient care and documentation in the EMR not only in the Student Wellness Center but also in other clinic settings on campus. While under the supervision of the CMO or other contracted physician will be available to administer IVs in an athletic setting on campus and/or at away football games when necessary. When not providing direct patient care with the CMO, will also help serve the needs of the Wellness Center as delegated by the Director of Student Health Services which may include assisting the other licensed clinicians with their direct patient care. Assist with pre-participation physicals of student athletes, ROTC students, or other university sanctioned club sports as directed by the CMO. Position is located on the main campus in Stephenville, Texas with work Hours are Monday - Friday 8 AM to 5 PM with occasional evenings and Saturdays as work requirements indicate. Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University. Responsibilities: 70% Assists the supervising physician or other licensed medical practitioner with direct student care in various settings by determining the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses or musculoskeletal ailments while also helping with the standard health care maintenance of students. Maintains adequate records and documentation of care. Efficiently utilizes an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system which includes directly assisting the CMO with EMR documentation while evaluating students. Maintains confidentiality of student records and health information. 5% Assist the supervising physician with interim physical examinations for healthy students within prescribed guidelines. 5% Provides health education to students about ways to improve, promote and maintain their health status, including but not limited to disease processes, self-care practices, and positive lifestyle choices. Maintains competence in clinical practice through up to date and clinically relevant continuing education. 5% Dispenses and administers prescriptive medications under the direction of the supervising physician. 15% Provides health services at and attends designated university functions as requested. Travels to various off campus sites to assist the supervising physician with providing acute care to student athletes participating in university sanctioned activities. Administers intravenous fluids when determined to be necessary by the supervising physician. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Must be licensed by the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse with experience preferred but none required. Associate's Degree or equivalent years of education and experience. Up to date certification in CPR. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet applications, and various software programs utilized for medical and administrative presentations as requested by the CMO or Director of Student Health Services. Knowledge of standard nursing procedures and techniques. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Ability to use and manage an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system while also assisting the CMO with EMR documentation as a scribe. Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses: Licensed RN and up to date CPR certification Salary Commensurate with experience The target base annual salary is $53,745 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
