Position Summary: The Registered Nurse Academy program provides a (3) three month orientation to bridge the gap between educational nursing program graduation/obtainment of licensure and the demanding expectations of an independent nurse in the acute care setting. With ongoing support and education from clinical nurse preceptors, nurse educators and nurse managers, participants will navigate an orientation process through a rotation within the Medical, Surgical and Telemetry units. Upon successful completion of the program and satisfaction of CMC customer service and core values assessment standards, participants will work full-time as assigned (Medical, Telemetry, and Surgical). Academy graduates will be placed into nursing positions as the positions become available.
Education:

Associates degree (ADN) in Nursing required.
Bachelor's degree (BSN) in Nursing preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Carolina in good standing (SCLLR)
BLS Certification Required.

Special Skills:

Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong PC skills required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
Ability to remain calm and professional in high stress situations required.

Working Conditions:

Occasional exposure to difficult patients.
Potential exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens.
Most work performed while standing, with a high amount of walking and moving around within a confined area occurs.

Physical Requirements: Medium - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to hear to process instructions and safety code and alarms required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job and will be assessed by post offer Employee Health fit-for-duty review.

Our diagnostic services include cardiac catheterization, PET scanning, two high-speed GE CT Systems including a 64-slice CT scanner, 3-D heart scans, PET scanning, MRI, breast MRI, bone-density screening, digital mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, high definition endoscopy/bronchoscopy, and a sleep-disorders lab.

CMC also offers outpatient physical therapy, a cardiac rehabilitation program, and a Surgical Services Center that specializes in general and vascular surgery, joint replacement surgery, spine surgery. CMC s medical care includes critical care, telemetry, inpatient dialysis, palliative care, obstetrics, pediatrics and women's services.
