Position Purpose
Assist staff in a variety of schools and classrooms to temporarily support select students, while also providing staff with training in behavioral and trauma informed strategies.Essential Job Functions: - Assist in data collection
- Assist and guide staff to reinforce student behavioral and academic skills
- Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning, social skills development and implement assigned programs
- Assist in the implementation of strategies listed in the FBAs and BIPs
- Assist and guides staff in the creation of visuals and other materials as needed to support behavior management & training
- Bill Medicaid
- Daily record keeping as required to maintain RBT certification
- Serve as a possible resource for the evaluation team
- Perform any other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
- Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g. Google Suite, etc.)
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others
- Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required
- Effective writing and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Autism Spectrum disorders preferred
- Knowledge of behavior interventions and mental health counseling preferred
- Ability to manage a fast paced environment
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
Work in standard office and school building environments
Ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities
Must be able/willing to become CPI certified
Will require travel between schools as needed
Qualifications Profile:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to: - High School diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience working with children is desirable
- Current Registered Behavior Technician Certification or willing to complete training to do so within 90 days of start date
Terms of Employment:
Less than 12 month
6.5 Hours per day
Grade 12 on Support Staff Salary Matrix - $17.39-20.85
An additional $1 per hour paid from referendum funds
