Position: Registered Behavior Technician Elementary School General Duties: Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, Principal, designee or a designated teacher, the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is responsible for the implementation of the treatment and/or behavior plan as designed by the Supervisor in collaboration with the IEP team. The RBT is responsible for attending all scheduled assignments pertaining to the students on their caseload and turning in all documents and data pertaining to the students. Reports to: Director of Student Services Qualifications: High School Diploma (GED) required, post high school degree preferred. Successful completion of a Teacher Assistant Training Program approved by the RI Department of Education (RIDE) and other requirements as promulgated by RIDE Must hold and maintain a current Registered Behavior Technician certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or equivalent. Must hold and maintain Certification in Crisis Intervention and Prevention (CPI). Minimum of three years or training or related experience with behavioral intervention strategies. Oral communication skills at the level required for the position. Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by educational and work-related experiences, previous employment, and the interview process Responsibilities: The RBT is a professional support position. The RBT will collaborate with school staff and the supervisor to develop behavioral interventions for students with disabilities. The RBT reports to the Director of Student Services but coordinates his/her work with the Special Education Teacher & the Supervisor. Under the direction of a teacher, the RBT assists students with all phases of activities on an individual and group basis throughout the day. Assists in the transport of students to and from buses to ensure safety and the boarding of the assigned buses. Travels as needed on transportation to and from school with students. Provides input to the teacher regarding students' behavior based on the data collected. Assists staff members in the supervision of students throughout the school environments to implement behavior plans. Under the direction of a teacher & supervisor, applies varying methods of behavior management designed to maximize student learning. Possesses the ability to interact effectively with students in individual and group situations. Participates in the design and interpretation of Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA's) Collaborates with the teacher and supervisor to design and implement multi-faceted behavior interventions. Understands and works with the various support systems available in the community Understands Special Education regulations including the Restraint regulations. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle emotionally charged situations. Maintains confidentiality regarding staff and student information. Performs other job-related duties as required or requested.
