Job Summary:
Directs and manages the Southern California KP Regional development and spread of professional nursing practice programs that optimize patient, organizational, staff, and organizational outcomes. Provide leadership and management to professional and administrative staff who supports, design, implement, and evaluate professional practice programs. Supports leadership in the definition and attainment of organizational goals.
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develops, leads, and evaluates strategies to advance the Nurse Patient relationship and nurse communication with the patient and family through performance improvements that increase positive nursing communication outcomes.

  • Identifies, communicates, and/or spreads successful practices and strategies both internal and external to KP associated with excellence that will improve the professional nursing practice culture and care delivery.

  • Develops, partners where appropriate, and evaluates the Leadership Development Programs for nurses to move from entry level to executive nursing leadership roles at KP.

  • Accountable for the successful design, implementation, maintenance and improvement of Kaiser Permanentes Professional Nursing Practice Model in the Southern California Region.

  • Collaborates with KFH and SPMG staff land leaders on business plans to achieve safe, effective clinical and leadership practice in a changing, competitive health care market.

  • Plans, develops, and/or directs the implementation of regional initiatives that disseminates best practice, excellence in practice, and standards of care.

  • Liaison to National PCS Professional Practice Work group(s), Collaborates effectively with other Patient Care Services regional program managers and/or directors to achieve Departmental goals.

  • Provides leadership to, hires, fires, and conducts performance evaluations for assigned staff.

  • Responsible for department budget compliance and performance objectives.
Basic Qualifications: Experience

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in a leadership position in a clinical nursing setting required.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in team building, conflict resolution, group interaction, project management, and budget management.

Education
  • Masters degree in nursing, business administration, public health administration, or other related field, OR six (6) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Registered Nurse License (California)
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
