Location New York, New York Shift: Day (United States of America) Description: Position Summary The Vice President, Regional Executive Medical Director (REMD), provides executive and clinical leadership to the NYP/Queens Medical Group. This includes oversight of Physician & Patient services, ambulatory quality and standardization& regional practice strategic growth planning in collaboration with leaders across NYP. Collaborates in the creation and execution of Physician development and engagement strategies to ensure a high level of patient care. Acts as a liaison between the Medical Groups and Regional Hospital Presidents. Partners with the business development team on practice expansion/acquisition opportunities. Essential Job Duties Works in collaboration with the VP, PSO Operations and Regional Administrative Director to ensure optimal performance of the medical groups and other managed or services entities. Leverages data from practice management systems to optimize practice performance. Maintains physician relations and provides support services to physicians. Collaborates with medical staff to develop and implement new clinical systems/programs to enhance existing services and raise the standard of care for the patient population served. Executes innovative strategies and services, including tele-health and remote monitoring. Ensures highest level of patient and physician engagement. Implements and monitors best practices with associated physicians and advanced practice providers Interfaces as needed with the academic medical groups of Weill Cornell and Columbia to ensure the best continuum of care for NYP patients. Interfaces as needed with independent physicians to align with the Physician Services Organization (PSO). Co-leads development of ambulatory program growth with the business development team Facilitates program development across service lines within the region. Represents NYP/Physician Services Division within all sectors of the physician community and assists in the development of communication relations with non-clinical entities to enhance the relationship between the Regional Hospital and patient community. Provides leadership for clinical and medical practice teams to ensure a high level of quality & clinical care. Collaborates to create programs for Physician and staff development that support the highest level of patient service and care. Identifies business development strategies to build a credible network of providers in partnership with business development team. Coordinates functions such as utilization review, quality assurance programs, medical protocol development and cost management programs/opportunities. Oversees clinical peer review and documentation processes. Collaborates with Physician Services leadership to ensure efficient physician recruitment, credentialing, and privileging processes. Facilitates provider on-boarding programs that improve practice outcomes. Collaborates with VP, Ambulatory Quality and Care Coordination as well as service chiefs to develop and implement ambulatory patient care standards and ensure optimal patient experience and outcomes. Works closely with VP of Operations, Physician Services Organization, to develop and manage budgets for the NYP/Medical Groups. Negotiates physician contracts using NYPMG models and resources, including stipends and contractual agreements for all practices groups affiliated with NYP/Medical Groups, as well as NYP/PSO clients. Participates in the creation of policies and procedures that guide the NYP/Medical Groups align with the organization's mission statement, and ensures compliance with policies, Medical Staff bylaws, and local, state, and federal regulations. Assures that medical staff efforts meet or exceed standards of the various accrediting agencies. The VP, REMD will work closely with senior leadership and counterparts across the Medical Groups, Regional Hospitals, and across the NYP Enterprise, as well as participate in Physician Steering Committees to ensure that processes are functioning optimally. Participates in the development and implementation of strategic and operating initiatives; works in partnership with the VP, Physician Services Organization and other senior leaders, governing bodies, medical and clinical staff to implement and monitor plans to ensure the current and future success of the Medical Group. Actively participates in development of Medical Group strategic planning and translates strategic plans into tactical business plans. Provides and maintains effective communication with medical staff, administrators and staff. Ensures that the goals and objectives of the Medical Group are consistent with NYP's strategic initiatives. Maintains professional competencies by attending educational programs and participating in professional organizations. Performs all duties inherent to managerial role. Participates in hiring, training, evaluation and termination of assigned staff according to NYPMG policies and procedures. Performs other special projects and duties as assigned. Qualifications Required (R) Preferred (P) Education Medical degree (R) MBA or other business related graduate degree (P) Licensure/Certifications Current NYS MD License& Board Certification (R) Work Experience 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in an academic teaching hospital (R) Experience leading group practices (R) Extensive knowledge of clinical programs and ability to integrate critical information from diverse areas (R) Must possess demonstrated ability to initiative and develop effective relationships (R) Strong written and verbal skills (R) Broad knowledge of a highly technical or professional field (R) Highly complex conceptual thinking (R) Considerable working knowledge of other major areas and the skill to integrate and communicate that information (R) Prior experience developing new policies and procedures (R) Demonstrated ability to work effectively with full time academic and voluntary physicians (R) Experience with Physician organizations (R) Join a healthcare system where employee engagement is at an all-time high.
