The Regional Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist has responsibility for the implementation and support of the EH&S programs for Sterigenics locations. This position will provide direct support and training to designated ethylene oxide (EO) sterilization facilities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and Company EH&S requirements. Reporting Structure The Regional EH&S Specialist will report to the Manager of EH&S. Major Responsibilities As Regional EH&S Specialist, the major areas of responsibility include the following: Environmental support Ensure compliance with environmental (air, waste, water) requirements for facility permits. Provide ongoing support and training for compliance with current environmental requirements. Coordinate and support compliance testing for emission sources. Work Closely with plant operations, engineering group and staff on implementation of new equipment or modifications. Health & Safety Support Support ongoing implementation of the EH&S procedures and policies. Provide training and safety briefings for required EH&S training topics. Monitor the EO industrial hygiene testing results and follow-up, including assistance with action plans. Assist site safety committees as needed to improve the safety awareness. Support implementation of Process Safety management and Risk Management Programs. Assist in Worker Compensation claim management. Conduct incident investigations and corrective/preventative actions for all incidents. Assist the facility in incident tracking and trend evaluations. Assist the Site Personnel in EH&S assessments and inspections. Participate in and conduct periodic inspections and lead EH&S Corporate Audits for all facilities. Follow up on all items with appropriate management. Minimum Educational Requirements, Experience, and Abilities Bachelor's Degree, in a technical discipline. 1 to 5 years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience, preferably in the medical device or pharmaceutical or chemical industries. Knowledge of Federal, state, and local EH&S related regulations. Computer proficiency ability, Microsoft Office preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Well organized, ability to manage multiple locations and projects.
