Reporting to the System Chief Nursing Officer CNO, the Regional Director of Professional Development and Nursing Education will oversee the nursing educational department, consisting of Nurse Educators over an array of specialties and departments, including (but not limited to) a Nurse Educator of Perioperative Surgical Services, Nurse Educator of Medical Surgical, Nurse Educator of PACU, Nurse Educator Women Services, Nurse Educator of Oncology, Nurse Educator of Emergency, and Nurse Educator of Critical Care ICU. The Regional Director of Professional Development and Nursing Education will be responsible for collaborating with the CNO and department directors to develop clinical education curriculum, integrate the latest technology and software advancements, and lead performance improvement initiatives. Maintaining strong clinical skills, knowledge about the latest educational theory, and staying up to date on evidence-based research, best practices, is crucial for developing extraordinary and comprehensive patient care. On the administrative side, the Regional Director of Professional Development and Nursing Education will be responsible for overseeing department budgets, scheduling, operational workflow, as well as the hiring, firing, education, and evaluations of the Nurse Educators.

Ideally, the Regional Director of Professional Development and Nursing Education will hold an RN license, be master's prepared, have previous Nurse Educator experience working for an acute care facility, and be up to date on evidence based best practices and techniques. Additionally, this individual should have prior leadership experience with an understanding of how to manage budgets and create educational curriculum. The Regional Director of Professional Development and Nursing Education will have an overall understanding of the healthcare industry; recognizing potential trends while understanding how to mitigate risks and uncertainties that may arise. Additionally, the Regional Director of Professional Development and Nursing Education will be a multitasker, strategic thinker, and work well with others.
