Overview The Regional Director of Pharmacy (RDOP) is responsible to direct the provision of efficient operations and growth of Symbria Rx Services in assigned regions through successful and effective execution of all activities related to the operation, including new business development, human resources programs, problem-solving and conflict resolution. In addition, the DOP supports the activities of Symbria pharmacies in other regions under the direction of the Vice President of Pharmacy Operations including mentorship, central fill support, and operational efficiency advisement. Responsibilities Plan, organize and direct the work of the pharmacy, ensuring corporate directives are integrated within the operational standards of the pharmacy daily workflow. Develop and coach leadership at overseen pharmacy locations. Assist with annual budget, manage revenue and expenditure targets; accountable for results as measured against budget plan. Work in collaboration with the Purchasing Supervisor to oversee drug inventory to assure that drug purchasing, receiving and distribution across overseen pharmacy locations is done in the most effective manner possible. Communicate timely, effectively, and positively with all staff, clients, residents, and other designated stakeholders outside and within the organization to ensure he or she remains knowledgeable on all necessary issues concerning both the internal and external operations, as well as the industry. Oversee customer requirements and expectations to provide excellent customer service and maintain above average client satisfaction. Manage facility formulary process, in conjunction with the Director, Clinical Pharmacy Services, including organization of formulary committee, recommendation of formulary additions or deletions, updating of applicable documentation, and entering and maintenance of formulary documentation within the pharmacy software and developed applications. Provide direction for evaluating and improving workflow for processing prescriptions by review and implementation of appropriate technology, define improvements to enhance processing time and on service rates, minimize labor/maximize efficiency and determine capital needs of the pharmacy. Prepare reports and regularly meet with customer leadership to review and discuss pharmacy expenses, benchmarking, new products and initiatives, and clinical reports relevant to their level of care. Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to identify key customer prospects and attend sales meetings with prospective new customers. Work with accounting and sales departments in conjunction with the Vice President of Pharmacy Operations to prepare sales proposals, pricing recommendations and/or respond to Requests For Proposals. Execute company business model strategies including creation of new business lines when applicable. Research and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies via workflow modifications or technology. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; develop and evaluate alternatives to accomplish goals and effectively utilize all available resources. Participate in innovative strategy discussions within the leadership team regarding pharmacy initiatives. Any and all duties as assigned. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily is necessary and the qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Registered Pharmacist (RPH) degree; and/or equivalent training through practical Long-Term Care Pharmacy business experience. Valid state registered pharmacist license, or Technician license, in good standing. Institutional pharmacy managerial experience; minimum three years. Strong leadership and analytical skills; demonstrable track record of project and team management. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to communicate at the highest level; verbal, written and presentation skills with a wide variety of people, including physicians, nurses, client staff, department managers, administrators, vendors, and other healthcare industry personnel. Working knowledge of healthcare practices, terminology, and technology as they relate to the pharmacy operations; principles and practices of quality control evaluation; safety policies, procedures and practices as they relate to institutional pharmacy operations; computer applications related to pharmacy. Knowledge of principles, practices and trends of public and business administration, including support services such as; finance, human resources, planning and program evaluation. Ability to maintain organization, prioritize and multi-task. Exhibit initiative and reliability. This position requires flexibility to travel to other Symbria Rx Services locations. This will include some out-of-state regional travel. QUALIFICATIONS PREFFERED Community formulary experience preferred. May require licensure in states serviced by pharmacy operations.
