Job Details

Meets daily with production, electrical, engineering, and management personnel to review work orders for process refrigeration system repairs, define repair procedures and priorities/conflicts with other departments.
Performs tasks in accordance with ISO Quality Documents and the OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 Standard, if applicable to facility site.
Coordinates repairs with contract crews, engineering, production, electrical, and warehouse personnel considering safety production needs and availability of parts.
Carefully inspects work site to analyze impact of repair procedures on plant operations and safety. Reports to superior any hazards or unsafe conditions which cannot be handled with standard procedures.
Observe and test system operation, using local control panel, gauges, and instruments.
Adjust set points according to specifications and charge system with proper type of refrigerant by pumping the specified gas or fluid into the system.
Test lines, components, and connections for leaks.
Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components, using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment.
Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts and reassemble repaired systems.
Braze or solder parts to repair defective joints and leaks.
Perform mechanical overhauls and refrigerant reclaiming.
As lead technician, acts as "crew chief" for repair team using assigned material, equipment and staff (this may include coordinating small contractor crews).
Trouble shoots systems using drawings, field inspections, and input from engineering and production operations.
Carefully inspects repairs to ensure work is complete and any anticipated changes in systems performance are conveyed to management, engineering and operations personnel.
Prepares purchase requisitions for approval and use by purchasing.
Repairs defective parts for return to spare parts inventory and makes recommendations to decrease or increase inventory.
Provides input to equipment surveys and preventive maintenance procedures for various systems.
Inspects operating areas each day, noting need for repairs.
Provides input to engineering, production and electrical/instrument departments for streamlining various maintenance programs.
Reports status of work orders and provides input for planning future maintenance activities.
Maintains appropriate maintenance records as directed by superior.
Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum qualifications

Technical degree or equivalent experience and background in mechanical field.
Two to three years' experience in the mechanical field.
Working knowledge of reciprocating, screw compressors, electrical troubleshooting, and common types of industrial refrigeration and or gas compression experience.
Industrial and commercial refrigeration experience
EPA Universal card
