Description of duties and responsibilities: The peer recovery specialist is and individual with lived experience of addiction and recovery who provides specialized support and case management to adolescents impacted by addiction.
  • Orients new students to the school's programs and policies
  • Collaboratively develop an individual recovery plan with students
  • Complete documentation and paperwork as necessary
  • Participates in weekly team meetings, contributing feedback regarding the student's behavior, progress, and recovery stability
  • Assists with student intake and follow up assessments
  • Ensures that students are connected to any necessary outside supports
  • Immediately reports any concerns to supervisor
  • Facilitate recovery process groups
  • Chaperone students on field trips during school hours and weekend as needed
  • Provide year-round phone support for enrolled students
  • Must be able to observe urine screening.
  • Must be able to transport youth in a company issued van.
  • Other tasks as requested by Supervisor

Qualifications for position:

  • Lived experience of addiction recovery, with a minimum of three years continuous abstinence if in personal recovery. High school Diploma required. Associate degree and NJ Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) Preferred

EVENING AND WEEKEND AVAILABILITY: Must be available evenings and weekends

Skills, knowledge, personal qualities required: Must possess the skills, knowledge, and personal qualities required to fulfill the responsibilities listed above. Strong writing and computer skills required. Bi-lingual preferred.

Hours per day or week: 35 hours per week/ Full Time
