Senior Development Accountant

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Development Accountant:

  • Utilize a strong understanding of real estate development processes, accounting principles, and financial analysis.

  • Take ownership of monitoring the timely submission of draw packages to lenders, facilitating a smooth financing process.


What will you do as the Senior Development Accountant:

  • Process, track, and submit development draw requests for multiple projects, ensuring vendors are paid promptly.
  • Conduct monthly financial close, including preparing financial statement packages for multiple development projects.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and internal policies.
  • Prepare monthly reports and revise budgets as necessary.
  • Monitor receipt of lender and equity funding.
  • Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Handle monthly development accruals and provide accurate cost information for development valuations.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare audit/tax schedules as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements of the Senior Development Accountant:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience handling real estate development projects.
  • Experience in preparation of construction draws.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of job costs, real estate accounting principles, and GAAP.
  • Proficiency in real estate accounting software such as Yardi or RealPage.
  • Highly organized with strong multitasking abilities.
  • Experience with construction pay applications and general ledger functions.
  • Experience managing closings on property transactions.
  • Strong ability to reconcile accounts, and expenses, perform various analyses, and generate reports.
