Radiology Technologist

RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST UAB Student Health seeks a Radiology Technologist. The successful candidate will be under the direction of a physician, to perform radiological procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. To perform a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. May be assigned a variety of other duties by department management to include, but not limited to, quality control and participation in a variety of training and committee work. To provide technical services needed for the TB medical clearance process. Duties & Responsibilities: Efficiently and accurately performs diagnostic examinations Familiar with the characteristics of all general radiographic equipment and accessories. Demonstrates proper use and care of equipment Prints radiographic films as needed Schedules and inputs specialty radiology orders through the UAB Impact system Processes required pre-certifications and follows-up and oversees same Serve as primary point of contact for X-Ray as needed for the purposes of TB screening and compliance Performs quality control duties, training, and/or committee work as requested Performs other duties assigned Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics: Excellent communication skills, and proficiency with verbal, electronic, and written communication needed for communicating with patients, insurance carriers, and UAB radiology scheduling. Ideally with experience obtaining precertification for imaging studies. Proficiency in working in a variety of electronic health systems. Salary Range: $18.35-$23.84 per hour High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of relevant experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in radiography required. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
