DEPARTMENT: RADIOLOGY FACILITY: Tift Regional Medical Center WORK TYPE: PRN SHIFT: Varied HOURS: Varied SUMMARY: This is a staff technologist position within the Radiology department. The technologist is responsible for providing quality patient care, performing radiology exams using diagnostic imaging equipment, and following the protocols established by the radiologists. The technologist also assists physicians with imaging procedures as necessary. The technologist must demonstrate an excellent level of patient care and possess competency in the professional practice. RESPONSIBILITIES: Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and facility regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified. Understands and adheres to compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflicts of Interest Policy. Demonstrates age-specific skills as required by position. Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs. Attends all mandatory education programs. Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes. Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements. Willing to cross-train in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in department. Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects. Manages resources effectively. Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment. Makes good use of time so as to not create needless overtime. Delivers quality patient care to a varied patient population and assuring documentation meets all hospital and accrediting agency standards. Administers contrast media via various routes of administration for imaging procedures. Is accountable for the caliber of patient care performed by her/himself and those under his/her supervision. Successfully completes required training classes both internal and external to the organization to maintain clinical competency. Practices Standard Precautions for Infection Control. Meets all educational requirements to maintain active ARRT licensure status. EDUCATION: Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology CREDENTIALS: Radiology Tech ARRT OTHER INFORMATION: Must be credentialed through ARRT within one year of hire.
