Rehab Hospital - Center Valley JOB SUMMARY Enhances patient care through the use of ionizing radiation in an effort to contribute to the diagnosis and treatment plan for all patients requiring diagnostic radiologic procedures at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS CLINICAL KNOWLEDGE The Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures adhering to the principle of radiation protection, according to local, state and federal standards. EQUIPMENT OPERATION AND SAFETY Knowledge of radiographic equipment operation and principles of radiation safety. Knowledge of positioning, techniques and radiologic examinations including procedures that require the use of contrast. Knowledge of Picture Archival Communication Systems, (PACS) CLINICAL ASSESSMENT Knowledge of individual patient needs as specifically related to the ordered procedure including educating the patient on the use and risks of IV contrast and documenting the patient's acknowledgement of the education in the medical record. Properly identifies patient and exam and able to assess imaging requirements based upon the patient's diagnosis and physical limitations. Understands patient transfers. COMMUNICATION Open, accurate and responsive communication, oral or written, on an individual basis or in groups. EFFICIENCY Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks / projects and meet deadlines. CONDUCT Demonstrate and maintain ethical and professional conduct with patients, families, physicians, staff, and members of the general public. ADDRESSES AND RESPONDS TO CUSTOMER REQUESTS By greeting customers, both internal and external, in person or on the telephone, answering and triaging inquiries, assisting patients with transportation inquiries and arrangements. PRODUCES DIAGNOSTIC RADIOGRAPHIC IMAGES Capable of producing diagnostic radiographs / scans through the application of prior experience, education and on the job training. Assume responsibility for assigned area, making sure all equipment and supplies are readily available for use. DEMONSTRATES PRODUCTIVE TIME MANAGEMENT By prioritizing, organizing and completing related job responsibilities within acceptable departmental time lines. PROTECTS CUSTOMER AND ORGANIZATION INFORMATION By keeping information confidential, following Good Shepherd's policy and procedures for release of information, maintaining secure medical records and maintaining security for the contents of the business office. Disposes all protected health care information in the appropriate PHI receptacles. CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT By assisting the department to achieve common goals, demonstrating willingness to provide service at other sites as necessary and promoting a positive work environment. By proposing, investigating, and implementing new operational methods to achieve end results. By accomplishing related results as needed. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education Graduation of AMA and / or Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) recognized School of Radiologic Science required OR Associate's Degree in Radiological Science required Work Experience 1 year of experience is required, two years or more of experience as an X-Ray Technologist in a hospital setting preferred. Licenses / Certifications Radiologic Technologists certification required Current BLS/CPR certification
