Job Description UPMC Northwest is hiring a Radiology Aide to join the team.

This position is full-time. Mostly daylight shifts: 6:15am-2:45pm and 8:30am-5pm

Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.

Prepare films for interpretation for all radiologists. Provide for film filing control and direction of films, jackets and RIS data entry throughout the department, and areas of service. Assist patients coming to the Imaging Services Department. Provide for transporting patients by wheelchair or cart to and from the x-ray department for tests. Assist radiologic technologist by preparing patients for tests, aiding in examination data entry and obtaining patient histories to expedite patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform duties when indicated.
  • Direct patient to area of the hospital and department.
  • Confirm patient appointment, utilize HIS/RIS for data entry, data retrieval, cancel/credit and other functions.
  • Re-file jackets.
  • Copy studies onto CDs from Stentor.
  • Pull exams from Stentor and filming for doctors, attorneys, etc.
  • Send copies of reports and films to physicians, hospital as legally requested, copy schedules, log books, etc.
  • Load/unload and log x-rays on motorized viewers.
  • Staff reception desk.
  • Digitize plain films from satellites into Stentor.
  • Rotate through the Imaging Center, loading/unloading film alternators, prepping patients for exams, pushing/pulling images via work stations from the Imaging Center to the hospital, assisting CT, MRI technologists in all duties necessary to expedite patient care, covering reception as needed for breaks/lunches, etc.
  • Collate requisitions with appropriate jackets and check in documents.
  • Perform receptionist's duties. Greet patients and answer any questions.
  • Collate mammography films from physician's offices/screenings with previous films loading/unloading and logging on motorized viewer.
  • Utilize radiology information system/hospital information system, PACS, for data entry, recording and information placement and retrieval.
  • Assist with other clerical duties as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Filing or clerical experience required-preferably in a medical environment.
  • Prior computer experience required.
  • Ability to recognize different types of x-rays to pull for comparison or releases.
  • Knowledge of different x-rays, CT ultrasound and nuclear medicine preps and proper time slots for exams.
  • Excellent phone, computer, communication and guest relation skills.
  • HIS training required. Highly developed telephone, reception and computer skills.
  • Ability to assess and move patients as needed. Ability to operate motorized viewer, telephone, fax, computer, wheelchairs, carts, IV pumps, oxygen tanks, photocopiers.
  • Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation OR Basic Life Support upon hire.
