This job is responsible for assessing patients and safely performing routine radiographic procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. As a Radiologic Technologist at an Ochsner Urgent Care Center, you will find no two days are ever the same. From imaging patients, to medical assistant duties such as rooming & triaging patients and working hand in hand with the physician, you will play a crucial role to proving top notch care to patients in distress. You will see a wide array of patients from diverse backgrounds ranging from infants to teens and adults, so you should be comfortable working with all ages. Because urgent care facilities are open extended hours, you will need to be flexible with scheduling. Shifts : 2- 12 hour shifts, 1- 6 hour shift, and 2 weekend days a month. What we offer: Shift differentials Full comprehensive benefits Time off accrual Team-oriented environment Cross training What we look for: Education & Certification Open to new graduates Required - Completion of a Radiologic Technology program in an AMA approved school Required - Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Required- Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiology Technology Board of Examiners (LSRTBE) Required- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard Knowledge of sterile techniques What you'll do: Job Duties Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy Assists with Medical Assistant duties as needed including: triage, vitals, rooming patients, preparing rooms, etc. Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (may include placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast) Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards. Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted. Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.) Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
