Position Description Radiation Safety Officer, Senior 100% Remote Are you looking for a Senior Level opportunity at 100% Remote where you can make an impact every day? Serco supports the US Army as a prime contractor for IBDSS Integrated Product Support (IPS). Our team provides Training, Fielding, Site Survey, System Installation and De-Installation, Maintenance, Remote support, Care of Supplies in Storage, Supply, Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS), Packaging, Handling, Shipping, and Transport, and disposal. You will be part of a large team of logisticians and field service representatives that collaborate closely with our Army customer to support base defense systems. In this role, you will support the IBD-SS program's global mission, primarily in CENTCOM and Horn of Africa areas of operations. The RSO, Senior Primary Duties: Maintain in-depth knowledge of OCONUS, federal, state, and local radiation protection regulations. Maintain the Non-Intrusive Inspection Systems (NIIS) radiation program and collaborate closely with military customers. Prepare and maintain radiological regulatory licenses, and permits at OCONUS, federal, state, and local levels when required. Function as liaison between local, state, federal, and OCONUS emergency response and regulatory organizations on radiological matters as required. Evaluate potential and/or actual radiation exposures to personnel or the environment, establish appropriate control measures, develop procedures, and assure compliance with pertinent policies and regulations. Direct the radiation safety staff in administering the established site policy, collecting samples, performing analyses, taking measurements, maintaining records, and assisting in performing the technical aspects of the radiation protection program. Investigate and advise management as to program status and make recommendations for program improvements to ensure continued compliance with the radiation protection program requirements. Consult with management on radiation protection issues. Develop appropriate training programs to instruct personnel in the proper application of radiation protection procedures and radioactive material transportation requirements. Assess risks for radiological protection and safety. Review audits and conduct inspections of CONUS and OCONUS facility operations to assure compliance with radiation protection procedures, policies, and regulations. Support the physical security program for radioactive material in quantities of concern in compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR Part 37). Support the Outage and Maintenance Services Dosimetry Records Program. Provide technical guidance for site remediation and decommissioning, both facilities and equipment. Perform site surveys to determine type and placement of systems. Install and de-install systems and their components and train operators and end users. May travel via military or commercial conveyances to outlying areas. Skilled using hand tools, power tools, and electronics measuring and test equipment. Generate/produce data and reports. Interact and professionally exhibit customer service skills and be able to present a positive approach with customer. Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will have: BA/BS in health physics or radiological health; or in a physical or biological science, industrial hygiene, public health, safety sciences or management. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of the degree. (15 total years of applicable experience in lieu of a degree.) 8-12 years of experience in applied radiological protection in a program with a radiation protection environment similar to that of the program to be managed. Be able to withstand physical demands of seasonal hot or cold temperatures and willing to live and operate in an austere environment. Possess a US passport that will not expire for at least 2 or more years and must have at least four consecutive blank pages for country visas. Be capable of meeting standards of fitness for deployment to the SWA of Operations. Must have experience in maintaining the radiation program and producing reports. Have a strong background as an RSO, Senior and will be required to collaborate effectively with the military customers, CONUS and OCONUS. Must be able to successfully supervisor and assign duties to manage the day-to-day operations of the program and provide direction to other managers to maintain program compliance. CONUS and OCONUS travel will be required. Be able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment. US DoD Secret level security clearance and citizenship is required. Must be able to travel up to 75% of the time. Must be able to demonstrate a proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel. Ability to multi-task, prioritize commitments, and manage time effectively including attention to detail. Must obtain or maintain any certifications required by our customer related to the position listed above to successfully perform your daily activities. Must be able to demonstrate a strong command of English language verbally and in written communication with colleagues and Senior Management. Must be able to provide a stellar level of customer service for our Army customer. Additional desired experience and skills: Low-level radioactive waste management, management of radioactive effluents, multimodal transportation of radioactive material, 49CFR, IATA and IMDG training. Familiarity with 10 CFR Part 20, 33, & 71 requirements. Familiarity with use and repair of radiation instrumentation, i.e., gamma spectroscopy, air sample analysis, whole body counting and instrument calibration. Experience utilizing COLTS (or similar such as RCLS) and operating within the GCSS-A environment. Import/Export (ITAR/EXIM) compliance experience. Experience in a rapid paced, time sensitive, high-quality environment. Preferred or Additional desired experience, education, skills: Former Military, Army experience is preferred US Army preferred.
