Technician - Advanced Manufacturing Technologies Group

Location: Cheswick, PA

Overview: Our client, Vitro, is seeking a skilled Technician to join the Advanced Manufacturing Technologies Group in support of research and development activities focused on glass products and processes. The ideal candidate will possess an Associate Degree or higher in disciplines such as Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Material Science, and demonstrate a strong aptitude for hands-on laboratory work and experimental analysis.

Job Responsibilities:

Adhere strictly to all environment, health, and safety protocols specified by Vitro and relevant regulations.

Complete tasks on time and communicate effectively with scientists/project leaders regarding work status and any issues encountered.

Independently and collaboratively plan and organize work tasks.

Prepare glass and non-glass specimens for testing and experimentation.

Utilize various instruments to characterize samples and document observations, organizing and recording data in appropriate formats.

Perform data analytics, including statistical analysis, to evaluate experimental results.

Contribute to the development of new methods for characterizing processes and tools for experimentation.

Conduct tasks both in laboratory settings and at production facilities, customer facilities, or supplier facilities as required.

Execute additional tasks related to laboratory management and maintenance to ensure safe working conditions and practices.

Desired Skills/Experience:

Aptitude and experience in hands-on laboratory work and experimentation.

Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and experimental techniques.

Experience in designing new tools or processes for fabrication of functional devices.

Ability to organize, analyze, and report experimental data effectively.

Hands-on experience in equipment operation and maintenance, with consideration for equivalent experience outside a laboratory setting.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Initiative and resourcefulness in problem-solving, both independently and within a team.

Desire for continuous learning and skill development through hands-on experience, self-study, and collaboration with colleagues.

Additional Desirable Skills:

Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and experience with software packages such as JMP and Minitab.

Familiarity with software for instrumentation, such as LabView, Python, C , or C .

Experience with high-temperature processes and measurements.
