Note this position is located at 594 Territorial Dr, Bolingbrook, IL 60440 Position Summary The R&D Lab Technician will be responsible for supporting research and development efforts in the commercialization of composite materials. The successful candidate will have laboratory experience, demonstrate initiative, and be comfortable with hands-on work. This person will collaborate with R&D Team members to advance projects through sample preparation, testing, and basic data analysis. Responsibilities and Duties Follow safe operating procedures for all equipment and instrumentation. Perform tests on new (trial or experimental) incoming, in-process, and finished goods. Generate/distribute/maintain accurate comprehensive and up-to-date records/reports of testing and calculations. Enter data into computer database as applicable. Assist with the development and implementation of new test methods and equipment. Operate various power tools for sample preparation. Maintain a clean work area. Perform tests and evaluations on competitive materials. Perform tests and evaluations on product failures and complaint materials. Assist with R&D / Experimental trials on the production lines. Assist with lab tours and technical demonstrations to customers and suppliers. Qualifications and Competencies B.S. in chemistry, physics, or biology. Previous Lab/Physical testing experience desired. Experience with composite materials, resins, and reinforcements a plus. Good verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of various types of test equipment desired (e.g., Brookfield viscometer, Hardness gauges, micrometers, calipers, chart recorders, and physical testing equipment - for doing tensile, flex, and compression testing). Experience with various types of power tools and their safe use. Data entry experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Forklift Experience (desired but not required).
