The Lab Intern will be responsibile for assisting in the day to day duties of lab maintenance, formulation preparation and adjustments, process improvement, stability studies, sensory panels.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with bench top formulation preparation/adjustments and lab maintenance
  • Partake in special projects, stability studies and sensory panels
  • Assist with internal stability studies and sensory panels
  • Process improvement, plant trials, data entry - lab testing and sensory results
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

An individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility successfully.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of a High School Diploma with 1 year of chemistry or 1 year of college education working toward a degree within the Sciences, Food Science preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Manufacturing experience within the food and beverage industry is preferred.
  • Average Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills are required
  • Basic knowledge of scientific methods, terminology and bench top chemistry.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data in order to compile information and prepare reports.
  • Organized, detail oriented, neat and able to meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter who can work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.

  • Close visual acuity to perform activities: preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, reading, visual inspection of materials, operating laboratory devices, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Mainly lab environment with some office and plant work. In the lab environment, one will work, from time to time, with hazardous chemicals with supplied safety equipment and is subject to atmospheric conditions such as dust.
