Title: Production Operator (Quarry) - Fort Dodge Shift: Rotating shift (1st / 2nd shift) Pay rate: $24.48/hour - $28.48/hour Shift differential: Base rate + $1.50/hour (2nd shift) Job Description Internal candidates must have worked within your current department for a minimum of one year and obtain supervisor approval to apply. The Quarry Production Operator position is an opportunity for a motivated individual to demonstrate their ability to multitask, work as a team and use their leadership skills within a fast-paced mining environment. Position is for rotating first and second shift. Reporting to the Quarry Production Supervisors, the successful applicant will conduct the daily operations of the Quarry, assist in the implementation of safety programs and maintain/contribute to production levels. Basic Accountabilities: A good work ethic, acceptable job performance, and predictable attendance. Practice dignity and respect towards co-workers, supervisors, and the public. Willing and able to learn heavy equipment operation and follow all plant, department, and job safety rules. Safely and efficiently operate various pieces of quarry equipment including, but not limited to, scrapers, excavators, loaders, haul trucks, crushers, conveyors, and over-the-road mobile equipment. Work with computers and other control screens. Service and make routine operating adjustments to equipment. Evaluate mechanical problems and communicate the information effectively to a maintenance crew. Complete all required MSHA and OSHA training and follow all regulations. Understand the importance of completing assigned tasks and their relationship to other requirements. Working nights and weekends on rotating shifts. Being available for overtime and call-ins as needed. Required Qualifications: Must meet essential physical requirements related to: o Regularly sitting, talking, listening, standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms. o Occasionally climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Predictable attendance. o Report to job site ready to begin work at the designated start time. Ability to perform all essential and support functions of the job. Ability to work in a team environment and assist others with duties as required. Ability to maintain a high-level of housekeeping in all areas of the job. Wear and use all required personal protective equipment (PPE). o Hard hat, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, etc. Ability to read, write and possess basic math skills to complete daily reports. Preferred Qualifications: Prior heavy equipment experience, including crushing operation. Possess a CDL and Tanker Endorsement. Completed MSHA Part 48 Training. Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. USG employees enjoy a number of benefit options for themselves and their families.
