Job Description

The Quality Engineer is responsible for managing the quality systems used throughout the operation to ensure critical specifications are being met (i.e. those required for maintaining certification and meeting the design intent). This is accomplished by maintaining all Product Quality Standards in readily available forms capable of being communicated, understood and met during the fenestration production processes. Further, the Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining gauging systems designed to meet the stated product and process requirements. The Quality Engineer manages the plant Voice of the Customer process by which customer product feedback is effectively captured and communicated to the appropriate Operations leaders, so these product issues may be clearly understood by those involved in the product's manufacture as well as by the Operations Leaders tasked with improving their line's performance.

Responsibilities

Supports quality standards including planning, defining, documenting (visual aids) and deployment.

Supports production with associate training relative to standards, evaluations, containment and corrective actions.

Process change implementation relative to quality planning & monitoring.

Performs supplier quality evaluations and standards deployment.

Manages Voice-of-the-Customer (VOC) database and Internal Quality and VOC Quality Alerts.

Design engineering project support from pre-launch to post-launch.

Performs new product launch verifications, launch-netting process capability studies, process audits and process improvements.

Initiates, supports and manages the CTQ (Critical to Quality) and CFA (Customer Focused Audit) process improvement protocal. Summarizes root cause in Pareto format, develops countermeasures and implements solutions confirmed by ongoing CTQ and CFA audits.

Executes random audit process including Auditor training and daily support relative to inspection, evaluation methods and techniques; interprets quality audit data base management and analysis findings.

Identifies and implements cost improvements contributing to improved plant EBITDA.
