ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY

Coordinate and supervise quality assurance and quality control practices to develop processes that produce products which meet customers' requirements. Monitoring inspection and testing activities of Quality Control Technicians, to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.



• Supervise Quality Control Laboratory by monitoring inspection and testing activities of Quality Control Technicians, to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.



• Review incoming material COA.



• Prepare outgoing product COA and meet customer requirements of timing, format and contents of such documents.



• Make real time color corrections to ensure the final products meet color requirement from targeted customers.



• Monitor overtime expense and arrange necessary action to reduce overtime spending. Prepare weekly overtime report.



• Check production formulation cards per schedule and original formulation. Issue Testing Requirement sheets for each upcoming product.



• Investigate internal and external quality related concerns and non-conforming issues. With necessary assistance from Quality and other departments, plan and implement proper corrective and preventive actions. Verify that proposed actions are effective.



• Maintain Quality Department databases. Analyze data process data using statistical techniques to ensure processes and product conform to standards.



• Prepare monthly quality reports and lead Quality Improvement Meeting.



• Maintain valid calibration of lab equipment under quality procedure.



• Assist in development of ISO documents. Coordinate and ensure internal and external audits have been done.



• Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The job titles that report to this position are: Quality Control Technicians


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in chemistry, or related scientific field from four-year college or university; Minimum of two years of related experience in a manufacturing environment. Must have one year's supervisory experience. Experience working in a PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) compounding environment a plus.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES



• In-depth knowledge of quality control/quality assurance procedures and legal standards.


• Strong knowledge of math, data analysis, and statistical methods.


• Must demonstrate leadership skills.


• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and proficiency in other Microsoft Office 365 applications or related programs.


• Must be able to promote positive relationships and encourage teamwork through positive communication between all team members.


• Must have excellent analytical skills.


• Must have strong prioritization skills.


• Must be detail oriented and result focused.


• Proficient in time management with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.


• Excellent problem-solving skills and flexibility required.


• Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels in the organization.


• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate tasks when needed.


CERTIFICATES, LICENCES, REGISTRATIONS

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer; ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt Desired.





PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires splitting time between office sitting and lab/plant presence.

Sometimes may be required to lift heavy objects (up to 100 pounds).

Vision requirements - Always must be able to identify and distinguish color vision and sharpness of vision for product color matching.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position sometimes works with lab and production equipment. There is some exposure to extreme heat in the production facilities. Work sometimes takes place near moving mechanical parts or in high, precarious places. There is a risk of electrical shock and exposure (40%) to fumes or airborne particles.
