JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for conducting quality assurance clinical system reviews. Recommends resources in an efficient and economical manner to enable each patient/resident/veteran to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental or psychosocial well-being. Documents findings and composes accurate, detailed reports of each facility review. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Able to provide support to Administrator, Medical Director, Director of Health Services, Department Heads and Governing Body to formulate operational strategies and achieve facility objectives within planned budgets and schedules. 2. Current knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations that apply to practice of nursing in long term care and veteran administration laws and regulations. 3. Able to assist the Administrator and Director of Health Services with Performance Improvement activities by serving in the capacity of PI Coordinator. 4. Demonstrates ability to identify areas for performance improvement purposes and provide recommendations that meet all laws and regulations. 5. Demonstrates ability to perform teaching functions and provide guidance and support to facility partners as indicated. 6. Conducts at least quarterly clinical systems checklists and provides recommendations to Administrator and Director of Health Services. 7. Demonstrates ability to prioritize responsibilities and complete projects within allotted time. 8. Able to communicate effectively with partners, other professional staff, consultants and veterans in interdisciplinary care setting and to government agencies. 9. Demonstrates honesty and integrity at all times in the care of veterans and facility property. 10. Maintains confidentiality of resident and facility information. 11. Keeps supervisor informed of daily activities, and issues. Proposes solutions to all issues. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Participates in center/agency surveys (Licensure / JCAHO/VA) and any subsequently required reports. Attends and participates in continuing educational programs to keep abreast of changes in your field as well as to maintain current license/certification, as required. Attends and participates in mandatory in-services. Honors rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints. Complies with corporate compliance program. Reports job-related functions/tasks that involve occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids and others as necessary. Follows established safety regulations, to include fire protection & prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc. Follows established safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment. Follows all company policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations and charged with reporting violations to the appropriate supervisor. Carries out all duties with a "Commitment to Caring" and in accordance with the company's mission, vision, and philosophy. Knowledge of emergency and disaster procedures of facility. Implements employee relation practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale. Demonstrates knowledge of and respect for the rights, dignity and individuality of each resident in all interactions. Competency in the protection and promotion of resident rights. Demonstrates knowledge of current facility policies and procedures to include but not limited to clinical, workplace safety including infection control procedures, application of universal precautions for blood borne pathogens, use of personal protective equipment and handling of hazardous materials. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or is a graduate of an accredited/approved RN program. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Five (5) years professional nursing experience and a minimum of two years as D.H.S., nursing management or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Current, active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in state of practice.
