Background: Pitch Labs is a 501(c)3 non-profit that is taking strides to change the face of entrepreneurship. As it stands right now, obtaining entrepreneurial knowledge can be expensive and seems only available to limited amounts of people. However, millions of entrepreneurs worldwide know that they can make innovations that will change and shape society forever. Pitch Labs is helping entrepreneurs unlock the resources they need by creating a free online library, hosting virtual events, and opening clubs in schools to allow entrepreneurs to unlock their skills and do what they are meant to do: create. How this Role ties into Our Mission & What We Need: As a Policy / PR Relations Officer,plays a critical role in shaping Pitch Labs' external communications strategy by conducting in-depth research on policy issues relevant to entrepreneurship education and startup initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our mission of expanding access and awareness of entrepreneurship in high schools nationwide. You will work with local chambers of commerce and research government policies, and policy groups to advocate for the needs of stakeholders. Qualifications: A relevant background, deep interest, and/or experience in Public Relations, Event Planning, Project Management, Logistics, Coordination, etc. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving. Respond to messaging/emails within 24 hours once onboarded Proficient in written & spoken professional/native English language skills Located in the United States Know about leading vs nonleading questions Know how to survey individuals effectively to draw conclusions Understand how to write effective emails Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive research on policy developments, legislative initiatives, and regulatory trends impacting entrepreneurship education and startup ecosystems. Monitor news outlets, government websites, and industry publications to stay informed about relevant policy debates, emerging issues, and opportunities for advocacy. Analyze the potential impact of policy changes on Pitch Labs' programs, partnerships, and stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making. Collaborate with the Marketing and Financial Resources team to develop communication materials including press releases, fact sheets, and policy briefs, to effectively communicate Pitch Labs' positions on key policy issues. Cultivate relationships with policymakers, government agencies, and advocacy organizations to advocate for policies that support entrepreneurship education and startup innovation. Support the development and execution of advocacy campaigns, grassroots initiatives, and public engagement efforts to advance Pitch Labs' policy priorities. Stay abreast of best practices in policy research, advocacy strategies, and stakeholder engagement, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance Pitch Labs' external affairs initiatives. Create and maintain ties with chambers of commerce and local business groups Assist in creating interview questions and survey form questionnaires specific to each group of stakeholders that effectively help draw conclusions on needs within a community; and contribute to outreach efforts. Analyze mass collections of data to provide recommendations for initiatives moving forward Write outreach emails to send to stakeholders and create incentives to fill out the survey/partake in the interview Time Commitment: THIS IS AN UNPAID, REMOTE VOLUNTEER POSITION. Therefore we are extremely flexible with time and just ask that you contribute what you can. If you have exams, work, or family events come up, you are more than able to take a break. During times when you are an active volunteer, we ask that you simply contribute at least 3-5 hours a week (ideally for at least 6 months). This is a great position for students in school or university who want to go into a career field but want to learn more about it; you will be able to dive deeper than you have ever done before.
