Strategix Management, LLC is seeking a Public Health Research Associate to support Federal clients within the National Cancer Institute. The Public Health Research Associate shall have knowledge of public health principles and experience in scientific research methods and dissemination. Knowledge of tobacco control science and practice and behavioral research is preferred. The employee provides logistic planning, research and writing, and coordination support for meetings, work groups, and large scientific research documents. Candidates shall have strong writing and analytic skills and be able to manage multiple projects efficiently and effectively. Experience with health communications is desired. They must have experience with the Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with reference management software (e.g., EndNote), biomedical abstract databases (e.g., PubMed), and data analysis software (e.g., SAS, SPSS) is strongly encouraged. Must be able to work on-site at NCI in Rockville, MD one day a week. Skills, Duties, and Responsibilities Applies knowledge of tobacco control science and practice. Communicates factual and procedural information clearly; orally, and in writing. Ability to learn and manage various technologies used to support the National Cancer Institute's Tobacco Control Research Branch program. Coordinates all aspects of large scientific initiatives, which may include groups of grantees, workgroups, writing teams, and data collection and analysis. Analyzes problems to identify significant factors, gathers pertinent data, and provides solutions. Plans and organizes work and consults effectively with team members. Develops reports, manuscripts, presentations, and other publications. Conducts literature reviews and assists with other research projects as requested. Coordinates scientific meetings and liaises with staff from Federal agencies and other organizations. Collaborates with other team members to address client challenges. Qualifications Master's degree in public health, health communications, or similar At least 2 years of relevant contracting or government experience; work related to tobacco control is preferred Experience in EndNote (or other reference manager) and PubMed Experience planning, managing, and writing high-level scientific publications. May include data analyses, literature reviews, etc. Excellent organizational and project management skills to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines, focusing on detail and precision in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment Ability to support multiple tasks from concept to completion and adhere to tight deadlines Creative, strategic thinker Excellent verbal and written skills Exceptional attention to detail Strong QA/QC skills to ensure correspondence compliance Goal-oriented team player focused on adding value, deepening knowledge, and increasing efficiencies
