Public Health Microbiologists are responsible for performing bacteriological, parasitological, serological, and virological examinations on human, animal, food, and water specimen. The incumbents will prepare specimens for analysis, make slide examinations, and perform cultural procedures which result in the identification of pathogenic bacteria such as tuberculosis or enteric organisms. The incumbents will also analyze food, milk, and water samples for pathogenic bacteria and toxic agents and perform serological tests on blood serum as an aide in the diagnosis of various diseases. Other Requirements: A background investigation/fingerprint and/or physical exam may be required prior to the start of employment. Candidates that clearly meet the minimum qualifications, as described above, will have their training and experience responses evaluated.
