DAYS/HOURS: Monday thru Thursday 40-hour work week with the ability to work after hours as needed. SUMMARY Under general supervision of the Program Manager, this position works with families and healthcare providers of Potter and Randall Counties. Responsibilities include providing vaccine, assisting health care providers, and other clinic duties. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Provides compassionate, quality patient care to patients. Maintains all necessary licensing and credentials. Provide immunizations via the mobile unit and the clinic's fixed location. Maintains appropriate patient documentation. Provides information to clients, families, and providers on the purpose of ImmTrac and the importance of maintaining complete immunization histories in the registry. Educates clients and families on public health clinical services for their children. Conducts health fairs for providers, schools, and other community groups. Conducts fieldwork, as needed, to interact with clients. Assists with vaccine management. Performs clerical duties, including data entry, managing the file storage system, and making copies of forms for clients. Assists health care providers across Amarillo and Canyon who participate in the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) program. Assists clerk with registering patients, as needed. Documents any technical assistance, follow-up compliance visits, or unannounced visits, as required. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of nursing related experience. Must be a graduate of an accredited LVN program and licensed within the State of Texas. Valid Texas Driver's License required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of area of specialty, anatomy and physiology, medications and disease processes and ability to apply those concepts to patients. Knowledge of the Public Health ten essential functions. Knowledge of the HIPAA Privacy Act. Knowledge of the design and presentation of training programs. Skills in Phlebotomy. Skills to use and maintain a sphygmomanometer, thermometer, and other medical assessment equipment (i.e. stethoscope, otoscope, and ophthalmoscope) Skills to use a computer with Microsoft Office for data entry, word processing and accounting purposes. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Skills to operate small office equipment, including a multi-function copy machine, fax machine and multi-line telephone systems. Ability to work with a culturally diverse population. Ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate manner. Ability to travel out of town for training and seminars. Ability to work an after-hours schedule as required. Ability to drive to off-site locations including patient homes and meetings within Potter and Randall counties. Ability to quickly change focus and priorities to address competing priorities, as necessary. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or more than 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or more than 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The employee must also walk, stand, sit, hear, crouch, balance, grasp, handle, feel, finger, reach, push, pull, speak, see, and talk. Also requires the ability to make rational decisions and perform repetitive motions.
