For information regarding the USF Health, please visit our website at POSITION SUMMARY: The Department of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida, Division of Child Development is seeking a Child Psychologist. This is a professional psychological counseling position requiring a doctorate in psychology, and state licensure as a Psychologist. The typical duties of this position involve providing direct psychological intervention services to students enrolled in two Hillsborough County Public Schools and consultation services to school administration and staff. Assist with project deliverables including developing model, all program materials, implementing Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, data collection, data analysis, ratings, clinical/administrative support of the funded research, literature reviews, preparation of presentations/submissions. Position may also be responsible for lectures, seminars, and short courses, and may participate in clinical programs, curriculum development. Opportunities for scholarship such as project design development, data analysis and writing up results for peer-review publication, scientific presentation at national and international meetings based on interest, funding, and availability. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides counseling for students, regarding a wide range of personal concerns related to their goals, needs, values, attitudes, conflicts, personal and interpersonal styles, educational or career choice, academic or work functions, social relationships, developmental or emotional crises, and disabilities of a social, emotional, or physical nature. Applies principles, methods, and procedures for understanding, predicting, and alleviating intellectual, academic, emotional, psychological, and/or behavioral disability and discomfort and to facilitate effective functioning during the life-span development process, intended to help persons acquire or alter personal-social skills, improve adaptability to changing life demands, enhance environmental-coping skills, and/or develop a variety of problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. May participate in the educational programs of the university by offering seminars, courses, and/or supervising the clinical, academic, and research experiences of students. Conducts research related to development, implementation, and evaluation of a trauma-informed schools tiered intervention delivery model. May develop, implement, and direct clinical programs. Other duties as assigned This position typically reports to a Director or Associate Director in a counseling department or Student Affairs function, but may also report to a Dean, Department Chair or other leadership position. Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor. This position requires a doctorate in psychology from an accredited college or university, and licensure as a psychologist by the State of Florida in accordance with Chapter 490, Florida Statutes. PREFERRED: Child/adolescent specialty training in doctoral and/or internship training. Trauma informed care training.
