10T Psych Therapy SV Psych Tech DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The Psych Aide provides direct contact with each assigned patient to monitor responses to services & identify problem areas. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Provides physical, emotional &/or cognitive patient care in an appropriate, safe manner. Liaison with various departments of LCMH to patient safety and quality care based on patient needs. - Diligent Training Utilizes effective crisis intervention techniques. Demonstrates ability to conduct environment and patient safety duties (i.e.- room inspections, patient search, belonging searches, monitor visitors for contraband). Communicates abnormal variances of physical data (vital signs, pain, etc.) to appropriate staff. Emotional &/or cognitive data (tearful, hallucinating, etc.) to appropriate staff. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE High School Diploma/GED preferred Sufficient experience in working with mentally ill persons, addicted persons or in providing personal care services. Crisis Response Training, CPR. Ability to communicate with patient, family, peers and medical personnel. Requires emotional stability and resilience. Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight. Exhibits organizational and leadership ability. Shows ability to gain & maintain support and respect of co-workers. Physical Demands/Work Environment Work requires a variety of physical activities including standing and walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, and lifting. The work environment may be physically confining. Visual acuity is required for a variety of specific activities. Must have normal hearing or utilize adaptive hearing devices if duties require listening with a stethoscope to discern breath sounds, heart sounds, and bowel sounds.
