Duties Provide guidance on the internal protocol program for the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC). Analyze protocol guidelines and policies. Advise staff on protocol related matters such as: receiving lines, invitations, and courtesies to domestic and visiting foreign dignitaries. Execute protocol related activities such as ceremonies, special visits, and conferences. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires a secret clearance. This position may require TDY travel of 15%. Heavy lifting up to 30 pounds may be required. Minimum Qualifications for GS-11 - Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1). Organizing itineraries for distinguished visitors. 2). Assisting staff in the planning of events such as special visits, social events, ceremonies and/or conferences. 3). Escorting guests throughout special events such as: Very Important Person (VIP) guests, high ranking officials, and/or other visiting dignitaries. 4). Performing administrative duties in support of assigned organization such as: managing records of events, creating correspondence, and/or researching information on procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Minimum Qualifications for GS-09 - Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1). Assisting with itineraries for distinguished visitors. 2). Coordinating with community organizations to support special events. 3). Applying social courtesies to diverse clientele such as: civilian, military, and/or foreign dignitaries 4). Assisting with set up of social events for assigned organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
