Duties Primary interface with customers for planned and scheduled events (conferences, meetings, seminars, symposiums, etc.) in the General Duane Cassidy Conference Center Develop and coordinate long-range strategic event plans for General Duane Cassidy Conference Center use. Advise representatives on all established protocol requirements relating to distinguished visitors (DVs) such as customs and courtesies, etiquette, flags, seating and dress for planned and scheduled events in General Duane Cassidy Conference Center Program Coordinator to plan, schedule and coordinate future events in the General Duane Cassidy Conference Center. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship Required Males must be registered for Selective Service, see A Secret security clearance is required. PCS will NOT be paid. This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program Work may occasionally require travel by military or commercial air, TDY away from the normal duty station. Work may require frequent trips between on and off base facilities. May be directed to greet customers, move heavy furniture, and perform custodial tasks, as necessary, to support Cassidy Conference Center operations. Disclosure of Political Appointments A 3-day beak in service may be required for current federal employees. Term position NTE 5 yrs. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions and Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) Concepts and techniques to establish and maintain a protocol program consisting of traditions; (2) Provide support for high level national and international officials; (3) Experience with various software programs to support customer's events; (4) Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of program operations; and (5) Planning conferences for distinguished visitors. OR EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or LL.M., if related. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of long range and strategic planning methods and concepts as it relates to facility programming and program management. 2. Thorough understanding and knowledge of Air Force programs and policies and instructions related to protocol in the U.S. 3. Knowledge of written and oral communication principles, methods, and techniques to conduct and coordinate events and protocol activities to develop intercommunication between installation and a variety of audiences. 4. Skill in gathering, evaluating, and interpreting feedback to identify potential problems and concerns, arrive at valid conclusions and solutions, and offer meaningful recommendations and resolutions. 5. Highly effective skill working with people to maintain effective working relationships with groups interested in or affected by events and protocol programs and policies. Conduct all interactions with the utmost tact and diplomacy. 6. Intermediate knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of correspondence and documents (letters, reports, spreadsheets, database, slide shows, etc.). PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
