Project Surveyor / Survey Project Manager

Location: Marianna, Florida
Snelgrove Surveying & Mapping, Inc.
License Requirement: Professional Surveyor and Mapper in Florida preferred
Position Type: Land Surveying, Survey Project Surveyor/Manager
Schedule: Full-Time, In-Person
Travel: 10-20% of time will be field review and field support, occasional overnight potentially
Salary: $70,000 - $120,000 based on experience, responsibility, and licensure

Job Description

Project Surveyor/Manager meeting the below qualifications. Licensure is not required however 5+ years of comprehensive responsible charge experience in managing all phases of project progression for a variety of survey projects is required for all applicants. Must be able to provide references to verify experience. Preference will go to a Florida Licensed Professional Surveyor and Mapper. If licensed in another state, achievement of a Florida license will be expected.

Qualifications


• Maintain a valid driver's license.

• 5+ years of responsible experience in various aspects of survey work and managing multiple project phases concurrently.

• Knowledge and experience in most of the following survey types:
o Control
o Topographic, direct
o Boundary
o ALTA/NSPS Land Title
o Route or Roadway Alignment
o Construction Layout
o As-built


• Not required but knowledge and experience in the following survey types would be a plus:
o Photogrammetric
o Topographic, remote sensing
o Hydrographic
o Subsurface Utility Engineering


• Knowledge and experience in operation and maintenance of the following types of field survey systems with their accessories:
o Taping
o Total Station (direct and robotic)
o Differential Leveling (digital levels and auto levels)
o GNSS (static and network RTK)
o Electronic Data Collection

• Experience with office systems including:
o Desktop and laptop computer workstations
o Windows Office applications
o Autodesk Civil3D drafting and point handling
o Printing, copying and scanning paper
o Phone, email and text communications
o Survey post-processing and adjustment applications
o Public records, indexing and searching, in person and online
o Survey records indexing and searching

• Ability to learn new systems (versions or brands) and teach them to others.

• Knowledge and experience with least squares and statistical analysis.

• Experience in equipment research, purchasing and implementation.

• Good communication and people skills.

• Attitude of leadership with humility.

Responsibilities


• Serve as project surveyor/manager and assist senior project managers.

• Responsible charge over subordinates in carrying out your surveys.

• Position is under direction of higher-level supervision and is reviewed by conferences, reports and project performance.

• Research, instruct and equip field crews for your projects.

• Knowledge of current FDOT safety protocols and ensure crews are in compliance.

• Monitor field crews progress daily. Record progress information to form weekly report on projects status.

• Support field crews as needed with equipment or project issues, by phone or at jobsite.

• Monitor equipment and material needs and coordinate with supervisor on purchases.

• Support draftsmen in field data processing and Quality Assurance (QA).

• Perform or direct survey computations and facilitate QA review of computations.

• Develop worksheets and instruct draftsmen in mapping.

• Perform drafting and mapping functions as needed.

• Perform field reviews of project sites, including verifying drainage details.

• Review mapping and control products for accuracy and completeness.

• Cooperate with other project managers for resources and scheduling needs.

• Full circle communication with your project manager and other team members (in-house and consultants).

• Maintain a positive attitude.

• Communicate with clients, land owners and the general public in a respectful manner. Be polite during confrontations and maintain self-control. Do not comply with requests that would violate the company's values.
