Commercial Industrial Door Project Manager

SUMMARY

We are searching for qualified candidates to provide coordination, management, planning and implementation for systems addressing the World's most complex opening solutions. Projects are primarily in aviation, shipyard, mining, military, and other industrial settings.

The position will define project tasks and resource requirements, and coordinate development and review of project deliverables. Manage project budget. Plan and schedule project timelines. Provide direction and support to the project team including sales, production and installation teams. Monitor and report on project progress. Track project milestones and deliverables. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans as necessary. Conduct project cost analysis in Real Time and closeout of the project. Create recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. Assist project contract review processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Sales pre-turnover activities including pre-release approvals
  • Participate in door project contract review
  • Coordinate door project design & operation review
  • Plan and execute specialty projects
  • Establish and manage project costs
  • Manage Electrical and Mechanical drawing submittals
  • Track project(s) process through build & ship
  • Generate Installation data package including coordination with GCs/dealers
  • Manage installation activities and General Contractor (GC) coordination
  • Manage project Change Orders
  • Assist the Installation coordinator with field issues
  • Evaluate/investigate project issues in various departments
  • Plan and implement project coordination improvements "historical issues"
  • Manage Architects' technical questions regarding door capabilities, building interface for door installation, electrical requirements, etc.
  • Manage GCs and dealer's door technical, sales and project status inquiries
  • Assist with Sales requests such as technical questions & project administration questions

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management

Knowledge of general building construction management

Experience with architectural and structural drawings

Knowledge of project management techniques and tools

Leadership training and team-building skills

Quality control experience

Knowledge of contract review & negotiations

Exposure to change management processes

Demonstrated analytical problem-solving experience and decision-making skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of applicable building codes and construction techniques

Proven ability to work and lead in a team environment.

Highly efficient and effective organizational and prioritization skills

Demonstrate a "sense of urgency" on getting tasks closure

Proven customer skills and ability to maintain perspective in conflict resolution

Self-starter, able to work without direct supervision

Knowledge of LEED requirements and documentation

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Three to five years direct work experience in project management capacity, proven experience in people management, strategic planning, risk management, and change management.
  • Experience in general contracting or sub-contracting capacity preferred.
  • Experienced "job" site equipment installation management.
  • Desire experience working with architects and engineers.

  • Some travel is required to ensure jobsite integrity
