Project Manager- Heavy Civil Construction

One of the nation's leaders in heavy civil construction is looking for a Project Manager to join their team. Projects include heavy civil, highway, bridge, and rail construction.

Heavy Civil Project Managers will plan, direct, and coordinate activities of assigned project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are achieved within timeframe and funding parameters.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review project proposals or plans to determine timeline, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing, and allocation of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Consult with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as needed.
  • Prepare project reports for management, client, or others.
  • Work with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Coordinate project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
  • Serve as liaison between client/owner and the corporation.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with project owners, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry professionals.
  • Prepare and submit all owner required paperwork.
  • Track project costs to maintain budget and profitability.
  • Train, develop and mentor Superintendents, Foremen, and trade craft employees to improve skills sets and prepare for promotion.
  • Review plans, specifications and shop drawings for accuracy, compliance, and construction feasibility.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications
  • 8 +years of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret project plans, specifications, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Looking for structure candidates, no utilities or paving
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project software; Spreadsheet software; Viewpoint accounting software preferred; P6 scheduling software and Hard Dollar estimating software also preferred.
  • Experience overseeing a team of supervisors and their direct reports.
  • Successful candidate will have experience working for public transportation departments.
